Lunch @ Lai Po Heen, Mandarin Oriental Hotel

After a week of hard work, wat more better way to reward Hubby & myself than a sumptuous Dim Sum @ Lai Po Heen.

Its been a while since we last came here. We used to come here quite often. Every other time we come, we would usually get back our usual window seat with nice garden view. The restaurant was so packed, we did not manage to get our usual window seat :(

Hubby was late as he was rushing some assignments. Sigh..Unfortunately, he is working on Saturdays as well (not alternate but every Saturday).

We ordered a combination of the steamed & fried dim sums.Alwiz liked the ambiance of this restaurant, with decor reminiscent of great ancestral homes of Chinese Tycoons whilst constantly playing a nice selection of Chinese oldies music.

1st the fried dim sum were being served.

Deep fried golden custard buns. Nicely fried to perfection & not at all oily.

Oven-baked mini fragrant egg cream tarts忌淋焗蛋撻. The egg tarts are g8.

Steamed glutinous rice with diced chicken, mushrooms and salted duck egg wrapped in lotus leaf "迷你珍珠雞" is another must try.
The rice are steamed to perfection.

Specialising in contemporary Cantonese delicacies and dim sum, the 2 dim sums below are a MUST have.

Steamed chicken dumplings filled with shrimps sun-dried scallops (simply known as "Siew Mai"). Steamed crystal dumplings filled with prawns & waterchestnut ( simply known as " Har Kau"). The prawns are fresh.

As CNY is around the corner, they offered some CNY special dim sum. Fried yam dumpling with scallop & mayonise was one of those. This dish is worth trying.
You will be able to see the scallop...Yummy..

In addition to these dim sums, we also ordered a healthy vegetable. Stir fried lotus roots with mushrooms & gingko nuts. Though we occasionally come here for brunches on Sunday, we have nv tried their vegetables.

I guess the pic is self explanatory. Its as delicous as it looks yet healthy.

We were so full tat we did not have any room for their desert.

However, we will definitely go back for the rest of the CNY specialty dishes.

Dodo - Cute Lil Poodle

I have not been an avid fan of dogs till 3 years ago when my sis got a toy poodle as a gift.
After consideration, we decided to name it "DoDo". The name was inspired from the dog's breed itself, "POODLE ". (read the words highlighted in RED in reverse manner)
DoDo is a smart lil cute dog which stay in the house. This breed of dog is especially playful & requires attention from the owner, i.e my sister.
However, as I regularly head home to my family house, I tend to play with her when I'm back. She will bark if I do not at least carry her when I am back home. Nowadays, dogs are having such a g8 life (",)
I am still comtemplating getting a poodle as a pet as it requires a lot of tender loving care & affection. Till I am able to provide all those, I will still hold on to the decision of getting a poodle.

Barbie Collection Part 1

In this series, would like to share my collection of Barbie which is still growing.(hehe)

Guess probably tat lead me to collecting them now instead. In this series, pls welcome the "Birthday Wishes" Barbie.

This doll comes in a set of 2. In beautiful gowns of Blue" & "Pink" respectively.

Kehidupan seorang bekas auditor yang terlampau

Few months back, a new colleague joined. An "ex auditor" was wat he claimed when asked abt prior work experience.
The fact tat he has prior audit experience, my expectations on him were much higher.
Everything was smooth sailing for the 1st mth. Wat else cud I expect for a new comer?? I thought, "Wow, the learning curve for this staff is exceptional".
Like people use to say, cud it be due to "Beginner's luck?". However, I chose to reserve my comments.
Lil did I know wat I was facing . The "true colours" eventually surfaced. Assignments were either not completed on time or though completed, were incorrectly done. Most of the time, it was a case of "I duno" or "I need some time to pick up". At times, it really makes me wonder if he understands the difference between quality of work vs completion of assignment??
Indeed the learning curve was exceptional, just tat it went against the ordinary :p
Anyway, to cut the story short, fast fwd to the 3rd mth now. Complaints start pouring in from other manager as well. The same mistakes will surface every now & then. Even basic accounting entries & report seems to be a challenge for him. How long does it really take for someone to pick up??
I definitely hope he can start showing signs of improvement as we need to work as a team. Else, someone will definitely have to face the music..

d beginning...

hav been thinkin abt it a while b4 FINALLY deciding to start my blog...wat a start to the year 2009
